Police Radio Scanner + – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026 · Applies to all current versions of the app; the consent message is available from version 2.5.7

Versions before 2.5.7. Earlier versions of the app do not yet show Google's consent message. In those versions, app analytics and ads start when you open the app, also in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. Please update to the latest version to make your choice. You can also contact us to have analytics data linked to your device deleted.

This policy explains how the iOS app Police Radio Scanner + ("the app", App Store ID 966533522) handles personal data.

1. Who is responsible

This app is published by the team behind Police Radio Scanner+ ("we", "us").

2. Summary

3. Data that stays on your device

Your settings, saved stations and premium status are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

Location (optional). If you allow location access ("While Using the App"), the app uses your location on the device to find nearby scanner stations. It converts the location to a place name using Apple's geocoding service. We do not receive or store your location. If no nearby stations are found, only the name of the region (for example the US state) may be sent with an app-analytics event (section 7). You can turn location off at any time in iOS Settings.

4. Scanner feeds, radio streams and station data

5. App protection (Firebase App Check)

To protect our server function from abuse, the app uses Firebase App Check with Apple's App Attest. App Attest confirms that a request comes from a genuine copy of the app. Google processes an attestation token from Apple and technical request data for this.

6. Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Starting with version 2.5.7, when you first open the app in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message (Google User Messaging Platform, a Google-certified consent tool using the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework).

7. App analytics, configuration and experiments (Google Firebase)

Analytics. With your consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland), or by default elsewhere, we use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve it. It collects:

We do not set a user ID and do not combine this data with your name or contact details.

Purchase events. When you buy or renew a subscription, the app reports the transaction (product, price, currency, date) to Firebase Analytics as a purchase event. Apple processes the payment itself. We never receive your name or payment card details.

Remote Config and A/B tests. We use Firebase Remote Config to change app settings without an update. We use Firebase A/B Testing to compare versions of the in-app purchase screen (for example, layout and annual price).

8. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version shows banner and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC). To serve and measure ads, limit how often you see an ad, and prevent fraud, Google's SDK may process:

Whether ads are personalised, non-personalised or limited depends on your consent choices (section 6) and on Google's rules. The app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA). Premium subscribers see no ads. From version 2.5.6, the ad SDK is not started for them.

More: How Google uses information from apps that use its services · Google Privacy Policy · the list of ad partners is shown in the consent message.

9. In-app purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store under Apple's terms. The app checks with Apple (StoreKit) whether a purchase is active, and stores the result on your device. Purchase events are also sent to Firebase Analytics (section 7).

10. Feedback and contact

If you choose to send feedback, the app opens a draft in your mail app with the app version, iOS version and current feed name filled in. You decide whether to send it. If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to answer you.

12. Who receives data

- Processor on our behalf for Firebase (Analytics, Remote Config, A/B Testing, App Check, Cloud Functions, Installations), under Google's data processing terms.
- Independent controller for AdMob advertising and the consent message, under Google's controller terms.
- Analytics data may also be used by Google for its own purposes only to the extent our Google Analytics data-sharing settings allow.

We do not sell your personal data and do not share it with data brokers.

13. Transfers outside the EU/EEA

Google LLC and some ad partners and stream providers are located in the USA or other countries outside the EEA. Transfers to Google LLC rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, under which Google LLC is certified. Where it doesn't apply, they rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Google's terms. Our server function runs in the EU (europe-west1), but Google may access data from outside the EEA under these safeguards.

14. How long data is kept

15. Your rights

You have the right to:

Because the app has no accounts, we can usually identify analytics data only through the app instance ID on your device. Write to appsinsights@gmail.com and we will help, including with requests to Google. Deleting the app removes all app data from your device, and reinstalling creates new random IDs.

You can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se) or to the data protection authority where you live or work.

16. Children

The app is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in your country in the EEA (13–16).

17. Changes

We will update this page when the app's data practices change, and change the date at the top. For important changes we will also inform you in the app or in the consent message.
